Zimbabwe: Emmerson Mnangagwa on an official visit to Uganda

Zimbabwean Head of State Emmerson Mnangagwa is on an official visit to Uganda at the invitation of his counterpart Yoweri Museveni.

It was at the special invitation of President Yoweri Museveni that Robert Mugabe’s successor went to Kampala to attend the official celebrations of the 57th anniversary of the country’s independence. This is the first time Mnangagwa has visited Yoweri Museveni’s house. Since coming to power, Harare and Kampala have intensified their cooperation. According to the head of Ugandan diplomacy, the two countries have good relations in several areas, especially socio-economic ones.

Recently, Mnangagwa and Museveni agreed on the immediate lifting of economic sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe. This appeal probably did not receive a positive response because the Trump administration renewed its sanctions against this southern African country denouncing the mismanagement of the Harare regime.
