Xenophobic attacks have resumed in South Africa. Several Nigerian nationals are again targeted in the Mpumalamga region, reports Sahara Reporter.
Attacks are ongoing in the Mpumalamga region of South Africa against foreign nationals, namely Nigerians. According to the Sahara Reporter report quoting The Nation, “this has been confirmed by Nigerian citizens in South Africa and by the Nigerian Consulate General in South Africa”.
No information is yet available on the details of these new attacks. Incidents reminiscent of the events that occurred only a few weeks ago when foreigners had to flee South Africa because of xenophobic attacks. A few weeks ago, the governments of both countries, Nigeria and South Africa, also met to discuss measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
