On Monday, 21 October 2019, the Moov Benin mobile phone network officially launched its electronic payment solution for BEPC prepaid credit top-ups. The official launch was made in Cotonou by Energy Minister Dona Jean-Claude Houssou in collaboration with the European Union and BEPC.
Do you want to top up credits on your BEPC prepaid meters? No need to move around. In Benin, all Moov subscribers can now top up their BEPCprepaid meters wherever they are 24/24 and 7 days/days via Moov Money. The objective of this initiative is to accelerate and improve the quality of BEPC’s services, which are experiencing enormous difficulties in providing prepaid credits after business hours.
A digital transformation process
According to Energy Minister Dona Jean-Claude Houssou, this major event is a real gift to Beninese on the eve of World Energy Day. “It’s amazing what we’re going through today. Since what we are experiencing today is the translation of this technological revolution through the digital digital revolution in the service of the energy revolution wanted by President Patrice Talon who gave priority to the energy sector for nearly 10% of the government’s entire action program for nearly 800 billion of our CFA francs,” he suggested. According to him, the future will be rich and beautiful and will take into account the concerns of the populations. “So it is with joy and a smile that I officially launch the purchase by Mobile Money of credits for our prepaid meters in Benin. And you should know that through Mobile Money, you will have Money (…)” he will officially launch.
“This innovative project commits BEPC to a process of digital transformation,” acknowledged Laurent Tossou, General Manager of the Beninese Electric Energy Corporation (BEPC). For him, once operational, this new service will make it possible to have a positive impact on the daily life and comfort of customers and to solve the problems of long waiting times observed at most BEPC checkouts, often due to high traffic or even a lack of connection, and then to resolve customers’ difficulties in terms of distances to travel and expenses.
Moov Benin officially launches its service
In his speech, Moov Benin’s General Manager Omar Nahli recalled the vision of this national event: “we are indeed there for the official launch of the electronic payment of BEPC prepaid energy credit refills via our Moov Money solution”. According to him, to achieve this result, the Moov Benin and BEPC teams worked together for weeks to develop this solution and make this service accessible. “This operation will undoubtedly be beneficial for all citizens, for BEPC, for our company and for all the people of Benin,” he said. Aware of the fact that Moov Benin is a major player in the development of the digitalization of services in Benin, Mr. Omar Nahli, General Manager of Moov Benin reiterates his commitment to support all digitalization projects in public services. He is therefore convinced that this and other (ongoing) services will meet the expectations of the Beninese people.
