President Patrice Talon visiting Niger would have liked to meet his predecessor Boni Yayi. According to La Lettre du Continent, which provided the information, the initiative for the meeting came from Patrice Talon, who had requested the assistance of the Nigerien president for the practical organization.
In its publication n°809 of Wednesday 9 October 2019, the pan-African media La Lettre du Continent talks about a missed meeting between former President Boni Yayi and the current Beninese Head of State, Patrice Talon. According to the weekly, this meeting, which should be held on 4 October 2019 with the intervention of President Mohamadou Issifou, was finally aborted because of President Boni Yayi’s demands.
According to information reported by the media, Boni Yayi, one of the leading figures of the opposition, reportedly issued a list of requirements before the meeting was held. Among other things, he would have demanded the presence of other opposition figures at the meeting and the return of Sébastien Ajavon, Komi Koutché and all the other political leaders who had to leave Cotonou to find refuge in other countries. These were demands that the facilitator of the meeting turned back on.
