Oil: dropping the Niger-Benin pipeline’s foundation stone
Announced a few days ago, the Benin-Niger international pipeline is about to enter its implementation phase. On tuesday 17 September, 2019, nigerian President Issoufou Mahamadou in the presence of the Beninese authorities including the Minister of Water and Mines, Samou Seidou Adambi.
The project to build the Niger-Benin international pipeline is now underway. The work was officially handed over to China’s national oil company (CNOC) on tuesday. Benin was represented at the ceremony by his minister of water and mines, who had already explained the benefits of this project for both countries. Scheduled to start in late 2019-early 2020, the work is expected to last two (02) years. Long of 1982km, including 1298 km in Niger territory and 684km in Benin. The main objective of this pipeline is the exportation of nigerian oil to the international through Benin.
