In Burkina Faso, five soldiers were killed during the night of Thursday to Friday in an ambush in the northwest of the country.
According to several security sources, a military patrol was attacked on Thursday night during an ambush by armed individuals in the vicinity of Toeni in Sourou province. This new attack killed five soldiers. Another element was also injured. According to Africanews, the response was immediately provided by the defence forces and a reinforcement was deployed to ensure a sweep.
Burkina Faso is facing an upsurge in terrorist attacks in recent months. Boko Haram and other armed groups are constantly hitting civilians and military bases. The multinational force of the G5 Sahel, which is supposed to limit the notorious advance of terrorists, is struggling to reassure.
