Benin: police ‘anti-gang”s operation wears its first fruits

Faced with the resurgence of big banditry a few weeks before the end of the year, the Republican police set up an operation called “anti-gang”. On friday 20 september 2019,  police spokesman presented the first results of this operation.

The new spokesman for Republican police was in front of  press on friday. Mathias Achedemessi, since it is from him, presented to the men of the media the results of the various interventions carried out by the elements of Yaya Soumaila in “antigang” operations’s context.

According to Mathias Achedemessi’s point, three key points illustrate the results obtained. These include:

  • dismantling several networks of road thugs and the arrest of several criminals brought before the competent courts;
  • seizure of more than 100 motorcycles from various robberies;
  • arrest of a supplier of weapons and ammunition.

In addition, persons whose motorcycles have been stolen, ripped off or robbed by social divorcees are invited to go to the General Directorate of  Republican Police with documents justifying their title to the withdrawal of their Gear.
