Since yesterday, Thursday, September 19 th, 2019 in Grand-Popo, Beninese patients have been receiving care from about ten Chinese doctors from various specialties. This medical assistance to sick patients is part of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the China popular Republic foundation .
As part of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Popular Republic of China, the Embassy of China to the Republic of Benin organized free consultations for the people of the city of Grand Popo. Thus, since Thursday, September 16th, 2019, nearly ten (10) Chinese doctors, specialists in modern and traditional Chinese medicine are at the bedside of patients at grand-popo, a city located about a hundred kilometers southwest of Cotonou. “In order to share its joys as part of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Chinese Embassy to Benin organized free consultations for the people of the city of Grand Popo,” said Peng Jingtao, the Chinese Ambassador to Benin to justify the purpose of this operation. “The free consultations, the free provision of health services and medicines to the people of Grand Popo, aim to strengthen Sino-Beninese friendly relations and increase the local population’s knowledge of traditional Chinese culture,” reported the Chinese magazine Xinhua.
As a reminder, the first Chinese medical mission was in Benin in 1978. Since then, every two years, this mission, made up of 26 doctors, has taken turns supporting Beninese patients. It is necessary to recall that the domain of public health is one in which China supports the country within the framework of the existing cooperation between the two states.
